WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Pioneer Public Affairs announced the addition of solar industry and Capitol Hill veteran Alex McDonough to its ranks. Before coming to Pioneer, McDonough ran his own consulting firm, McDonough Advising, was a co-chair for Clean Energy for Biden during the 2020 presidential contest, and spent nearly four years at Sunrun as the Vice President for Public Policy. He also served as former Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid’s Senior Policy Advisor on energy and environment, and brings 11 years of Capitol Hill experience.

“I’m eager to get started at Pioneer, working with clients who are leading on solutions to the climate crisis and breaking through the noise in Washington,” said McDonough. “I have spent my career advancing clean energy and climate action -- and I’m excited to join Pioneer’s highly effective team to help purpose-driven clients build America’s clean energy economy.”

McDonough’s addition to Pioneer comes as the firm is ramping up its political practice ahead of what is expected to be historic spring and summer sessions in Congress, with the ongoing infrastructure and climate legislation negotiations between the Biden Administration and Republican leadership, federal agency reorganizations, and the reopening of the American economy.

“Alex’s addition to the team not only increases our capacity and institutional knowledge in the clean power sector, but it also creates a new opportunity to engage with renewable energy leaders to chart a course on the future of clean energy ” said Joe Britton, President of Pioneer Public Affairs. “The future of our country will be firmly rooted in combating climate change, investing for the future of sustainability, and building new coalitions that will drive social equity, public health, and environmental justice outcomes. And our shop is up for the challenge.”
