WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Pioneer Public Affairs announced the addition of Carianne Lee as a Policy Advisor, who will be key to supporting the firm’s growing climate and sustainability practice in Washington, D.C. Lee most recently served as Senior Legislative Assistant in the office of Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, and is an important thought leader on how energy, environment, appropriations, foreign affairs, and agriculture policy impacts communities.

“Making the connection between policy and people is vital to crafting effective strategies that deliver for communities across the United States,” said Lee. “I’m excited to be joining a strong team that understands how to effectively leverage public affairs to deliver value for clients, and I’m looking forward to continuing to pursue my passion for collaborative policy-making at Pioneer.”

Lee is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, and completed her masters degree in Environmental Sciences and Policy from John Hopkins University. She is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer from Burkina Faso and the former President of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Staff Association (CAPASA).

“We are thrilled to have Carianne at Pioneer, not just because of her education and extensive experience in the U.S. House of Representatives, but because she cares about her work and doesn’t let anything stand in the way of getting results. She’ll bring fresh eyes and creativity to clients in the environment, energy, and public health sectors,” said Joe Britton, President of Pioneer Public Affairs. “She has proven skills pushing for climate action, and I’m honored she is going to continue that work with us here at Pioneer.”

Pioneer launched in 2020 during a crucial time for climate action and other progressive causes in Washington, D.C., where effective navigation of Congress and the Administration are critical for delivering results.
